Dear Shirley Lynn,
Please, find below information about Self Energy. In the past I had a deep understanding of Caring Awareness. My first website 27-years ago was called caringawareness.com.
It just struck me that I can draw on the energies of:
- Being aware of my feelings & emotions
- Bringing caring to them in a prayer “May my anger be well and understood” etc.

In “parts work,” which typically refers to Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, “Self-Energy” represents the core essence of a person, a state of being characterized by qualities like [Caring Awareness] compassion, curiosity, calmness, and clarity, which allows individuals to access and heal their various “parts” (subpersonalities) with a sense of inner wisdom and stability; essentially, it’s the healing force within that can guide and support the integration of different parts of oneself.
Key points about self-energy in parts work:
Accessing the Self:
When someone is “in their self-energy,” they are accessing a state of being that is not reactive or overwhelmed by their parts, but rather present, mindful, and able to observe their internal experiences with compassion.
Healing Power:
Self-energy is considered the key to healing in IFS therapy, as it allows individuals to connect with their vulnerable parts and support them without getting caught up in their extreme behaviors.
Qualities of Self-energy:
Commonly described qualities of self-energy include curiosity, compassion, calmness, clarity, courage, connectedness, confidence, and creativity.
Role of the Therapist:
IFS therapists aim to help clients access and cultivate their self-energy by guiding them to identify and understand their different parts, and then gently supporting them in connecting with their inner “Self“.

Hi Ross:
These are all different systems that speak to the same phenomena.
Different languages used to describe the same phenomena as they experience. The actual process of feeling your feelings and letting them pass through. You already have spoken to being gentle and caring for yourself with your feelings and to care for your feelings.
What is important is to actually feel the feelings and let them pass through the body. Then to release emotional attachments to your mental stories and fears about your feelings.
Life Force is another word for ’Self Energy”. Some might refer to this as the subconscious and unconscious self.
Others refer to this as true nature, as in many Buddhist traditions.
This is also the practice of Reiki.
When you flow Reiki and you breathe into your tandem, and come into your centre, your essence.
You are encountering and resting in your Self Energy, your true nature.
You are encountering and resting in your Self Energy, your true nature.
This is not new in terms of spiritual practice. What is important is that you practice a spiritual practice consistently.
Going within to FEEL and let FLOW the energy of these FEELINGS through your body. without disassociating from them.

We will focus on your relationship to anger today and where it is stuck in your body.
